Partnering with Thresholds
Based on our workshop experience at Envision, SGT has developed a theater-based program with Thresholds, a service provider for people with mental illness. SGT Ensemble Members Joseph Wiens and Eileen Niccolai work for Thresholds and this outreach programming is strongly supported by the Ensemble. Three 5-week sessions have been built around the three shows of the SGT season. Workshop participants have met on Sundays and now on Tuesdays for three hour sessions. They also attend the SGT productions and meet with the cast and crew following the show. On February 22, 2017, the winter workshop participants performed an inaugural showcase of scenes, monologues, original poetry and music for an audience of 50 on the set of The Tall Girls, complete with lights and sound.
